Pat and Marissa's Wedding: Part I

We traveled down to South Carolina for our dear friends, Pat and Marissa's, wedding that was on October 13th. We had been looking forward to their special day ever since they got engaged because we don't get to see our friends much since we are scattered all over the country!

Joe was the Best Man (the groom and him are both from Pittsburgh and played football at Wofford; they roomed together all 4 years), and our other close friends were groomsmen, so we got to all stay together in the most beautiful house in the Cliffs of Glassy Mountain community. I can't even tell you how wonderful it was to be with some of our most favorite people ever! It has been so hard to be away from them after basically seeing them everyday for 4 years, so it was nice to have a whole weekend of togetherness!

How amazing is this house?? I couldn't get over the views all weekend...absolutely perfect. And that sunrise?? Fughetaboutit.

Breathtaking views from the back porch
The view from our bed on Saturday, the morning of the wedding

I'm not usually such an early riser, but as soon as I saw this view, I jumped out of bed and headed out to the back porch and took a million pictures with my phone and camera. What a beautiful start to their perfect wedding day!

The view from the kitchen
I've always said that I'm more of a mountain girl than a beach girl...and this view confirmed it!

Next up, The Rehearsal Dinner and Part II of the wedding weekend.

Sunshiney Happiness

A few months ago, I found these yellow beauties on Craigslist for less than $100. Sure, they smelled like a nursing home at first, but after a good, deep clean, they are as good as new! I have been dying for yellow dining chairs, and the fact that these are such cool Mid Century Modern chairs was an added bonus! Joe isn't too thrilled with them, but I think they add just the right amount of sunshiney happiness to our drab dining room. I really hate our dining room and dining room table, so someday when we have a proper breakfast nook, I think these would look fab around a white tulip table!

I took this picture of the computer screen, but this was the picture on Craigslist that made me fall in love!

One of these days, I'll get the dining room fixed up and will take some better pictures.
Here are a few of my inspiration pictures that made me covet fun yellow chairs!

If I were having a baby...

...and it was a girl
(no, I'm not pregnant)

I was doing my usual perusing of Anthropologie's website when I came across the most beautiful wallpaper I had ever seen - Watercolor Peony. That, of course, sent my crazy brain into a tailspin thinking about how I could possibly use this gorgeous paper and decided I needed to design a nursery around it.

What? Is that not what you do on your crazy Saturday nights??

I am so in love with how it turned out - just the right mix of pink, vintage, traditional, and modern. Perfect for a future little girl!

A few of my favorite things:

{1} Vintage Barbie Prints from Layla Grace - I saw these a few years ago and fell in love with them. I was obsessed with Barbie as a little girl, so I think they would be precious in a nursery.

{2}Vintage Gold Sputnik Chandelier - (via Little Green Notebook) Loving the modern touch this pendant lends to the room. I'm sure any little baby would love staring up at this beauty!

{3} Anthropologie Watercolor Peony Wallpaper - How gorgeous is this?? Such a beautiful backdrop for a nursery. I'm too chicken to actually put wallpaper up on the walls, so these wallpaper panels would be framed in acrylic, like so:
{another Little Green Notebook find - she's a genius}
Baby can't mess them up, and you can pack them up and take them with you if you move!

{4} Gold Pagoda Mirror - to add a little glam and Chinoiserie chicness to the room

{5} Ceiling paint - no boring white ceilings here. Your ceiling is your fifth wall, don't forget about it!

{6} Jenny Lind Crib - I just so happen to love these classic cribs, but if you are splurging on other pieces in your nursery and are looking for an affordable crib option, Jenny Lind's your gal. I'd love to paint one a soft pink for this nursery (and it can easily be painted another color for the next baby.)

{7} White cornice boards, white drapes, navy greek key trim - Easy peasy and super cheap if you use affordable drapes from Ikea.

{8} Who said toy storage has to be boring? Loving the look of this fun basket to store those unsightly toys.

Thanks for the inspiration, Anthro!

my obsession with Jamie Meares

Let's talk about my girl crush...I'm a tad bit obsessed.
If you haven't been reading the fabulous blog, I Suwannee, you have seriously been missing out.
Jamie Meares is the genius behind it, and also started Furbish Studio, her design studio in Raleigh, NC.

She is so incredibly talented, and has such a great eye for design. She has an amazing ability to mix patterns and styles and make everything look like they were meant to be together. I am constantly drooling over photos of her design work, and of all of the different setups she has in Furbish. (btw I would totally drive all the way to Raleigh just to visit this awesome place) I absolutely love her use of beautiful fabrics, traditional furnishings, and kitschy details...definitely using some of her ideas as inspiration for our apartment!

How beautiful are these rooms??

This was the first image I saw of one of Jamie's designs, and my jaw hit the floor. I am so in love with everything in this gorgeous bedroom. Love all of the textures! Also really loving the bed placed in front of the windows...I know a lot of people aren't into that but I've always been a fan.

Another one of Jamie's bedrooms designs that makes me weak in the knees. Where to begin? Dying over the gorgeous art, campaign tables, THOSE LAMPS, and the snow leopard pillow...and everything else in this room.

Seriously - how fun is this dining room?? Loving the traditional wingback chairs and setee that are recovered in modern fabrics.

Master pattern mixer (and lots of precious pups included in the pics)

She has such a cute bathroom! Love love love the monogrammed shower curtain.

Can I please have her kitchen?? Loving the mix of industrial and traditional.

These are a few things from Furbish - don't you want to go there?? Definitely check out their online store if you aren't close to Raleigh. I have my eye on a few things. (Hell, who am I kidding...I'll take everything)

(making these mine asap)

(Yes, they have tons of cute jewelry, too!)

Are you as obsessed as I am??
